6th place | Lang Co Beach | 46 points

Lang Co Beach, a surf spot in Hue, is 65 km southeast of Hue city, a 1 hour 20-minute drive. It is actually closer to Da Nang, 32 km or a 50-minute drive from the city. In any case, it is far from the city and the area around Lang Co Beach is undeveloped countryside, so it is hardly a surf city. However, it is listed here because it is the northernmost area where frequent surfing is possible. It is also listed on wave information websites. There are almost no surfers surfing at Lang Co Beach. Also, the beach is clean due to the low population in the surrounding area. It is a potential surfing destination from the cities of Da Nang and Hue. There are many good Vietnamese local restaurants along QL1A street in front of Lang Co Beach.

1st place | My Khe Beach, Da Nang | 57 points

My Khe Beach, a surf spot in Da Nang, is located on the east coast of Da Nang. Da Nang is the most convenient surf city in Vietnam. There is an airport and surf spot in the city, with plenty of hotels and restaurants around the surf spot. Moreover, there are plenty of shopping and sightseeing opportunities. It is also the safest place on the Vietnamese coastline, where you can feel the local’s good nature. Surf season is from October to May. The best time to surf is the transition period between autumn and spring, when the waves are good and the winds are light. Although there are variations from year to year, the transitional months around October, November and February are generally the best times to expect the best wave quality and weather. During this transition period, there is a close to 50% chance of fun waves within chest to shoulder high, and surfers of all levels can enjoy shortboard to longboard surfing and even SUP surfing. Sea temperatures are around 20°C in the coldest winter months, about the same as in June or October in Shonan. The summer months from May to September are extremely hot and the waves are small. The waves are especially small and almost non-existent from June to August. However, if there are waves, they are of good quality as it is the season when the terrain is good. Typhoon swells, which are possible from summer to autumn, tend to bring dumper waves. However, depending on the course, they can be great.
