Lang Co Beach

Lang Co Beach, a surf spot in Hue, is 65 km southeast of Hue city, a 1 hour 20-minute drive. It is actually closer to Da Nang, 32 km or a 50-minute drive from the city. In any case, it is far from the city and the area around Lang Co Beach is undeveloped countryside, so it is hardly a surf city. However, it is listed here because it is the northernmost area where frequent surfing is possible. It is also listed on wave information websites. There are almost no surfers surfing at Lang Co Beach. Also, the beach is clean due to the low population in the surrounding area. It is a potential surfing destination from the cities of Da Nang and Hue. There are many good Vietnamese local restaurants along QL1A street in front of Lang Co Beach.

The city is filled with locals. Prices of goods sold by the beach were overpriced.

Bai Dai Nha Trang, Southern Nha Trang, Cam Ranh Province

Hon Chong Beach, north of Nha Trang City, has a reef point break where you can surf in the city when a big swell comes in. Similar to Da Nang, the waves are small in the summer months from May to September, with monsoon waves arriving from October to April. Typhoon swell can be expected a few times a year. If the waves are big, Hon Cong Beach’s reef break is a good place to surf. The seawater in Bai Dai Nha Trang is crystal clear. There are also plenty of delicious restaurants to go to in the city.

The city can be quite crowded. Further away from the center, you can find a beach break.

1st place | My Khe Beach, Da Nang | 57 points

DaNangSurfing
Good sandbank in My Khe Beach during spring

My Khe Beach, a surf spot in Da Nang, is located on the east coast of Da Nang. Da Nang is the most convenient surf city in Vietnam. There is an airport and surf spot in the city, with plenty of hotels and restaurants around the surf spot. Moreover, there are plenty of shopping and sightseeing opportunities. It is also the safest place on the Vietnamese coastline, where you can feel the local’s good nature. Surf season is from October to May. The best time to surf is the transition period between autumn and spring, when the waves are good and the winds are light. Although there are variations from year to year, the transitional months around October, November and February are generally the best times to expect the best wave quality and weather. During this transition period, there is a close to 50% chance of fun waves within chest to shoulder high, and surfers of all levels can enjoy shortboard to longboard surfing and even SUP surfing. Sea temperatures are around 20°C in the coldest winter months, about the same as in June or October in Shonan. The summer months from May to September are extremely hot and the waves are small. The waves are especially small and almost non-existent from June to August. However, if there are waves, they are of good quality as it is the season when the terrain is good. Typhoon swells, which are possible from summer to autumn, tend to bring dumper waves. However, depending on the course, they can be great.

International airport in town. One of the best on the Vietnamese coastline in terms of accommodation, restaurants, shopping and places to play. Good surf and weather in autumn and spring, ideal for relaxing and surfing.

There are no waves in the summer and the temperature gets too hot during the day to go outside. You will need more than just a seagull when it comes to surfing in the winter, perhaps a wetsuit would have been better.

All ranking ratings are the opinion of one individual. It takes into account whether it is a good place for a surf trip and whether it is a good place for foreign surfers to stay.

Apart from these six places, there are few surfers and not much surfing is done. However, there are good waves all over Vietnam. The well-travelled surfer should also look out for places other than these six. Good waves in Vietnam are also scattered in areas other than these six destinations mentioned.
